HCS 8th Graders Minister to REACH

Dear 8th grade families,

 

Thank you all so much for your participation in the ministry dinner last night.  You were all so generous with contributing to the dinner, and with your time spent encouraging the folks from REACH.  Thank you for coming together in the unity of Christ to set up, interact, pitch in with needed tasks, clean up....just everything!! 

The students did an amazing job and I was so proud of how they represented our school and our Lord.  Many of the REACH staff commented to me that our students were incredibly kind, mature, and thoughtful.  They truly reflected the light of Jesus and the REACH residents seemed to really enjoy our school.  It was touching having the REACH residents give hugs, want to write down Bible verses that were listed on the school wall, and to hear them shout "Go Falcons" to the high schoolers practicing basketball in the gym!

 

Thank you, thank you to each one of you for making the night a special ministry unto the Lord!

Thank you for all of your work.  I know the clients enjoyed their time at your event because their peers who did not get to go expressed a desire to come “next time”.  Word around the Work Center (where gossip spreads like wild-fire) is that everyone had a great time.

 

Please tell the students who were there that I was very impressed with the way they interacted with the people we serve. Their compassion, ease, and grace made me optimistic for the future. Most adults don't interact as comfortably with our clients as your kids did.

 

If anyone who attended the event on Monday would like to have a tour of our Work Center, please have them contact me.  My top two favorite job responsibilities are helping people get to know our clients and helping people to get to know the work we do at Reach Inc.  I am happy to give a tour any time.

HCS 2nd Graders Work with Eagle Mount

Four students and a sibling from Heritage:  Samuel, Sophia, Hannah Botz and Daniel and Mikaela Johnson and two parents, Sandy Botz and Karna Johnson enjoyed serving at Eagle Mount on August 2nd.  We joined the horticulture class where we learned about preparing irises for replanting, helped gather vegetables from the garden plot to be prepared for the Farmer's Market, tackled the task of weeding around the raised garden beds and enjoyed a "lemonade" tea party  with all the participants.  It was a fun couple of hours filled with learning, serving and meeting new people.

HCS Kindergarten Visits Aspen Pointe

In May, the kindergarten class went to Aspen Pointe senior living to share God's love with the elderly.

 

Mrs. King's class sang songs, made cards for each of the residents, and gave plenty of hugs on this joyful morning.

 

The seniors were delighted to have little kindergarten kids spend some fun time with them.

HCS 6th Grade Provides Dinner

The 6th grade worked together to take dinner to the board at Grace Bible Church before their monthly meeting. The meeting averages 25 - 30 people. They were so grateful for the meal consisting of enchiladas and BBQ Pork along with salads and cake for dessert. Kelly, the assistant administrator, was probably the most thankful as she got the month off of coordinating the meal herself.

Heritage 11th Graders Contribute to Crib Connection

The former 10^th grade class (now the juniors) has completed their final act of service.

We worked with Crib Connection, a ministry at Grace Bible Church. The Gallatin Crib Connection is a group of women from Grace Bible Church wo love the Lord Jesus and volunteer their time and service to help new mothers who are in need of assistance in the community. They provide new cribs and assemble them in the homes of individuals who have applied and been approved for participation.

The students donated new books, toys, games, coloring books and crayons to be given as gifts to siblings of the new baby. These items were delivered at their monthly meeting on Monday, September 9^th at 6:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church. The ladies were so honored that we would think of them and want to assist them in their ministry.

Heritage 5th Graders Write Letters to Servicemen

The Fifth Grade class chose to send letters to men and women in our Armed Forces who have ties to our local (Montanan) communities. Each student designed a letter format that included friendly questions like, "where are you from", "what's your favorite food", etc. Most of our students included a verse that spoke to them personally, and that they thought would encourage the soldier that received it. The letters were then addressed and sent through an organization that serves our men and women in the service who would like to receive correspondence from people they are not familiar with. This organization was chosen to provide protection for our students, as well as for each armed personnel that received the letters. This 'mission' was a blessing to our students, who had to think of kind things to say to a stranger, as well as kind words to someone that defends their freedom. We hope that each soldier that received a letter was as blessed as our Fifth Grade students!

 

 

Co-administrators Distribute Treats to Constructions Workers

The co-administrators have been dropping off goodies for construction workers over the summer.

 

                               Ice cream bars on a hot summer day was a welcome treat.
